Like other countries, Pakistan is also a Muslim country and the traditions and rituals of the Muslim weddings are also followed in Pakistan. Modern era has given the opportunity of dating and love marriage; however, arranged marriage is still popular in Pakistan. A quite familiar part in Pakistani weddings is Rasm-e-Henna, which is organized mainly for the bride. Generally, this ceremony lasts for about four days before the main ceremony begins. Henna is used in the hands and feet of the going-to-be bride, and for styling the henna, few henna specialists are invited to do this job precisely. Most of the designs include floral patterns. The groom’s family provides the bride with different sweets and gifts on this occasion. The bridal dress is also provided in this day. Traditional singing and dancing is performed in this occasion with happiness.

Indian Muslim Wedding

Muslim wedding is also recognized as Nikah is commemorated with the agreement signature procedure and is believed as the traditional way for an Indo-Asian wedding ceremony. Generally, the mehendi ceremony is held at night and dances and songs are performed in this occasion with extreme joy and happiness. Baraat is known as the real ceremony where the moment is celebrated with musical instruments when the groom arrives. The newly married couple gets the opportunity to sit together in this occasion for the prayer. A copy of the holy Quran is kept in a place between the newly wedded couple and they can only see each other through the mirrors.

Rukhsati is recognized as the event where the bride leaves the banquet hall with the groom. This is actually a tearful moment for the bride’s side when she leaves the hall. However, the arrangement and celebration differ from place to place, but the customs and traditions are all the same for Muslim weddings. The ceremony varies with the financial condition of the brides’ and grooms’ respectively. A few days earlier, the bad tradition of taking dowry from the brides’ family was practiced with significance; however, time has changed and this kind of bad practice is now inhibited.

The preparations for the wedding begin with the introduction part of the going-to-be bride and groom. Firstly, the bride meets with groom's family members along with the groom, and then the guardians from both families discuss about further arrangements if the bride and groom agree with each other. The major parts of a Muslim wedding are the Walima and Nikaah. When both of the families agree with all the terms and conditions, Nikaah takes place after the Mehendi celebration with extreme joy. After certain days, a religious tradition namely Walima is arranged, where the family members and close relatives from both families gather to share their happiness with each other. The traditional custom Walima was first introduced by the great Prophet (PBUH) and from then this religious custom is obeyed with great honor. It is believed that, this ceremony will help the newly married couple to prosper and live happily for the rests of their lives.

As like other religions, Muslims have their own wedding tradition. It is true about the important rules that are performed during this occasion. Other activities may be different from country to country, even society to society. Whatever they do in this day; this day is regarded as the important part of their religion, and so they take every step of the matrimonial process very seriously.

For wedding purpose, the bride and groom need to be matured enough. They should agree to do such a wedding. Their agreement is judged by asking them during the wedding process. A religious person, known as moulovi, asks them about their agreement. He carries out the whole religious rules. The Rituals in Muslim Weddings

Muslim wedding is regarded as a special and significant day in the life of Muslims. They celebrate this day with great bliss. In this day, two souls are considered to be attached with each other. This is why they judge the day to be celebrated notably. They follow some traditional rituals during this celebration.

After selecting the bride and groom, date and place for the wedding are to be chosen according to the preferences of both families. A cash amount is then sent to bride’s family from the groom’s family. Two days later, ‘Manjha Ceremony’ is to be held. The bride is anointed with turmeric paste given by groom’s family in this ceremony. Anointing with turmeric paste is also done in ‘Mehndi Ceremony’, which is held on the eve of the main ceremony.

In the day of main ceremony, groom’s party arrives at the venue with the groom. They are welcomed heartily. This day is traditionally the fourth day. Both the bride and groom are seated separately. A ‘Maulvi’ (religious person) quotes from the holy ‘Quran’ and asks them about their agreement. If both of them accept the proposal, wedding is completed. Everyone there then enjoys by having amusements. They bless the newly married couple from their hearts.

In some society, the bride visits her home after four days of wedding. This is called the ‘Chauthi’. There is another ongoing ritual, which is known as ‘Valimah’. The groom’s family is invited stunningly in this occasion.

However, there are several variations in celebration styles. This mainly happens upon depending on the places and customs. We know customs change from country to country. Some Muslim countries like to have lavish and elaborated festivals, for example- Arabic countries. In conservative Muslim families, lavish festival is quite unusual as they think this is an unnecessary expense. The type of celebration may vary but basic religious rituals like sending money to bride’s family; quotation from the holy Quran, proposal acceptance, etc. are same in all Muslim countries.
